Casement window

In these windows, shutters open like a door.
Construction similar to the door . Consists frame, style, rails, vertical and horizontal sash bars.


Double hung window

These windows consist of a pair of shutters, which can slide within the grooves provided in the frame
It consists chain pulley mechanism for opening and closing purpose.

Easier in cleaning and controlled ventilation

Pivoted window

In these windows shutters are allowed to swing round the pivots
Pivots maybe horizontal and vertical


Sliding window

Similar to sliding doors. And shutters move on the roller bearings either horizontally or vertically.
Such windows are provided in trains ,busses, bank counters ,shops etc

Double glazed windows

are ideal energy efficient.
minimise noise.
 thermal resistant
Double glazing has the reverse effect in summer, preventing unwanted heat from coming into the home.

Metal windows

In this window the metal used in construction may be mild steel , bronze or other alloys.
Metal frame maybe fixed direct to wall or on a wooden frame with screws.
Now a days these are widely used, specially in public buildings.

Clerestorey window
These are provided near the top of main roof.
Pivoted windows are used for this purpose.
Care should be taken that upper part opens inside and the lower part opens outside,otherwise rain water will accumulate in the room
